Welcome to Callington u3a
Initially known as University of the Third Age, u3a is a National and International organisation which has a positive and creative approach to retirement. Membership is however, not related to a specific age and is open to anyone not in full time employment.
If you have been searching for your local u3a Branch, you must previously have already heard about u3a. But what exactly is u3a? u3a provides a social network for those with similar interests and this is done through Interest Groups where we share knowledge and experience, and as our u3a tells us nationally, also learn to "Learn, Laugh, and Live'. u3a Branches are run by the Members, for the Members.
All Members are considered to be volunteers and are encouraged to join the Branch Committee, help on Sub-Committees, run the Groups, etc, if required.

We have around 150 Members living both in Callington, and in our surrounding villages. with no waiting list and new Members are always very welcome. We have some twenty Interest Groups ranging from educational, leisure and recreational activities., with something there to suit everyone
We meet at Callington Town Hall. New Road, PL17 7BD which has full disabled access and WiFi. Our Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. Join us at around 10.00 to socialise with friends over a cup of tea or coffee (a nominal 50p), before the Meeting commences at 10.30.
We invite Guest Speakers to our Meetings to talk to us on a diverse range of interests, and with updates from our Groups, local news, plus any u3a business, the meeting usually closes around midday. There are Notice Boards on display introducing all of our Groups, plus a wide ranging book and DVD collection. Our monthly Newsletter publishes information on our Group activities, announcements, and any other items of interest.
Our interest Groups meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly, as agreed by their members, either at member's homes or at a hired venue. More details can be found on the Groups page.
There is sometimes a small contribution towards the costs of Meetings, especially if rooms have to be hired – but these are decided by the Members of the Groups. Outings and events are arranged throughout the year including Cream Teas - jam first - and Christmas Lunch.
Non Members are welcome to attend two of our monthly Meetings before deciding whether or not to join us. Unfortunately due to insurance restrictions non Mmbers are unable to join any of our Interest Groups. Which also means that Members are not permitted to bring along guests or visitors to any Interest Group Meetings or Visits.
