Our Backgammon group meets monthly on Wednesday afternoon every 3rd week from 2 till 4. There’s plenty of space if you would like to join us, so why not drop in and learn a new game, or of course revisit an old favourite and share your skill. We are the newest Group to start up and running in the last twelve months, with the Group now growing in
popularity as more people become aware of us. We came together for the first time on Monday 29th Sept 2025 when just four players covered two boards. Remembering how to play had us all on our toes for a while, until it all came flooding back.
More equipment was purchased to allow more players to take part during our May meeting, with everyone able to play on a full size board this time around. When new players join us they can watch a game or two to get an idea of how to play, become familiar with board and ask any questions about the game actions. When ready to play a game they are paired up with someone who has experience of the game, and can show and give advice as they pick up and play the game.
A few new members joined us for our April meeting, so we now have eight players spread across four boards with one other free to oversee and chat, so one more player would be great to create another pairing. So the newcomers were able to watch a game before having a go with a regular player so as to become familiar with the rules and moves of the game.
So if you fancy having a go, pop along on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2 till 4 in the Town Hall chamber. Refreshments on tap with cost of room hire £13 being shared between players. For more details call Ann as above
