So what are our Membership Fees? u3a Branches are funded in the main by the subscriptions of their members. Callington u3a subscription for 2025/26 is £10.00 for an individual member, or £14.00 if you would also like to receive the quarterly u3a magazine "Third Age Matters'", which is sent out by the Third Age Trust. Joint membership subscription is £29, with a half price reduction if you join after October 1st. If you would also like to be a member of other u3as (Associate membership) there is an additional fee of £6.50. Membership subscription is due to be paid annually and runs from April (after the AGM) to March the following year.
This covers administration costs including an affiliation fee to the Third Age Trust. It entitles members to attend our Monthly Meetings, take part in one or several of our Interest Groups, plus receive our Monthly Newsletter. Membership also gives access to the Tamar Valley Network, a collection of local groups which offer learning and training opportunities. There is sometimes a small contribution towards the costs of our Group. Meetings, and other organised Events, especially if rooms have to be hired, or entrance or participation fees are charged, but these are decided by the members of the Groups involved.
If you are new to Callington u3a and decide to attend one of our Monthly Meetings, look out for a '"Meeter and Greeter" - (wearing a yellow sash) - who will welcome you and explain how our u3a runs. They can offer you a coffee and will show you our Display Boards which detail all the Group activities that our u3a offers. They can also introduce you to a member of our u3a with whom you can sit and chat, before the Chair's "Church Notices", and introduction of our Guest Speaker.
