Carl & Ann Moore run the Cribbage & Cards Group which meets on the 1st Thursday of the Month between 10am and 12.00, in the smaller Meeting Room at Callington Town Hall. The cost is £1.50 which covers room hire and refreshment
Generally speaking, we do play Cribbage, and as we have now learnt how to play with two, three and four players, everyone is included. If you would like to come along and join us, whether you have played before or are a complete novice, we're all on hand to show you and to help you pick up the rules of playing the game.
At present there are nine of us in our Group so each month depending on numbers we decide whether to play in 2, 3 or 4 set tables. Names are drawn at random for each set so you tend to play with different members each month. This was decided to keep the game fresh and give an edge each time so you rarely play the same people month after month. It works well which ever size table you are on. We even have a 3 player board Geoff brings to use to help scoring if that's the group total which is very useful.
So pop along if you fancy a hand or two. It helps with your maths and the conversation is always lively so supports the old grey cells from becoming dormant. The highest score of a round so far in the room is 40 only achieved once, and everyone is chasing that. All of which helps keep your brain active while enjoying good company. Come along and join in, or maybe teach us a new card game with which we are not familiar.
Our regulars enjoy 'names in a hat' so you never know who'll be playing with or against, making each month different and keeps you on your toes. Cribbage is easy to play and pick up so why not try a different card game with a touch of maths to keep your grey cells active.
We have now purchased additional equipment to cover another table in readiness for ourJune meeting so two to four more players can play on a further table. Our numbers are increasing each month with two new members enjoying the May meeting. Many of our members have said they played in their in their younger days so soon get back into their stride, while if you're new to it all you'll have plenty of support from your partner plus the other two players on the table. Cribbage can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players so no-one is ever left without a seat. With two or three player games you play as individuals. With a 4 player game you partner the diagonal person. The new coloured peg boards make it easier to keep your score as individuals, as you each have your own colour run.
